SEWING 101
For those of you who have never sewn or haven't sewn since the first time you took Home Ec we offer a fabulous one night workshop guaranteed to prepare you for our intermediate classes!
Build A Bag Workshop

Home Ec's Intro to Sewing workshop is the best way to get yourself comfortable with a sewing machine and ready to tackle simple projects! This 3-Hour project based class requires NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE and has you leaving with a fabulous lined cotton tote perfect as a casual shoulder bag or that extra bag you keep with you for last minute stops at the grocery store. After choosing your own fabric, lining, straps, and closure you will learn to pin, cut, interface, and sew your very own bag!
$95 includes all materials!

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE CLASSES
For those of you who have basic skills or those of you who loved your Build a Bag workshop so much you want to learn more we offer a number of next level classes! Some of the classes are one evening workshops and some are a series of 3 or 4. Be sure to check this out when signing up for the class and make sure you can attend all sessions so you can finish the project. These classes change often and many are seasonal so check back regularly to see what's new!
Apron Making Workshop

Are you the hostess with the mostess? Or is grilling more your game? Either way our Apron Workshop is for you! In this class you'll make a bib apron with contrast front pocket, neck and waist ties. You'll learn to edge stitch your pockets and tackle hemming both an inside and outside curve. Remember this class requires some basic sewing skills!!

Tip: Remember you want your apron to be sturdy as well as pretty! When choosing a fabric try to choose something that will stand up to spills and laundering. And don't be afraid to play around with pattern combinations! It's an apron! Go wild!
Hat Making Workshop

This bucket style hat is perfect for sunny spring afternoons, walking poochie in the park or for Sunday mornings when you need something cute to cover up that bed head! This one session workshop will teach you everything you need to know so you can make one in a different color for every day of the week!

Altered States

One of the most popular classes we offer at Home Ec the one and only Cal Patch will teach you how to make your old wardrobe new again! In a class inspired by an article she wrote for the Aug/Sep '06 issue of BUST Magazine Cal will show you how to make clothes fit better and look current. Taking in side seams, adjusting hemlines, lowering waistlines, and piecing in other fabrics are all techniques that can help you become your own personal tailor. Bring in some garments to play with and we'll give them a new life! Remember some previous experience required.

Flirt Skirt Class

Can't find the perfect skirt? Is the fabric amazing but the fit is never right? Does it fit in the hips but not in the waist? Stop the frustration and learn to make your own so it fits perfect everytime!! In this class you will learn to alter a commercial pattern to fit your specific measurements! You'll then cut and sew your own skirt from that pattern using fabric of your choosing. You'll learn to set in a zipper, sew darts and hem the skirt to the perfect length. Time permitting we'll add a topstitched pocket!

Home Ec Open Studio

We know it is hard to think of making things when space is such a constraint. You have to cut everything out on your kitchen table and of course once you've actually got all your fabric out you'll find you don't have pins or a tape measure or maybe even a decent pair of scissors. We've been there! And now we have a solution to the frustration!
Open Studio is a supervised sewing time (not a private lesson) where you will always find a knowledgeable person to help you with questions about your projects and equipment and will always be full of creative suggestions. Bring your project or just an idea and use our equipment to finally get to working on those ideas you've had for so long!

Terms and Conditions:
All classes are non-refundable so be sure you will be able to attend! In order to sign up for classes and workshops payment is due at time of sign up. Refunds cannot be offered for missed classes as your payment holds your place. If you cannot attend class we ask that you notify us 48 hours in advance so we can offer someone else your space. If cancellations are made within 48 hours you will be offered the next available spot that is convenient with your schedule. In the event we have to cancel a class you will be offered a refund or the opportunity to reschedule for a future class. Please be certain your schedule permits you to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the class. Otherwise we cannot guarantee you will finish your project before you leave. We ask that people try to arrive 15 mnutes before the class commences.
