Build A Bag Workshop
Skill Level: Beginner
For those of you who have never sewn or haven't sewn since the first time you took Home Ec, we offer a workshop guaranteed to prepare you for our intermediate classes! Youth classes are also available.
This introductory lesson in basic flat pattern techniques will give you the basic skills to draft patterns to fit any body! Using your own measurements, you'll draft a simple skirt pattern with darts, which can be customized in all sorts of ways to suit your personal style.
Taking in side seams, adjusting hemlines, lowering waistlines, and piecing in other fabrics are all techniques that can help you become your own personal tailor. Bring in some garments to play with and learn how to give them new life!
Learn to alter a commercial pattern to fit your specific measurements! Then cut and sew your own skirt from that pattern using fabric of your choosing.
Cal will show you that it's easier than you think to make your own knit tops. This class is perfect for those looking to gain more experience sewing with knit or stretch fabrics.
Open Studio is a supervised sewing time (not a private lesson) where you will always find a knowledgeable person to help you with questions about your projects and equipment and will always be full of creative suggestions. Bring your project or just an idea and use our equipment to finally get to working on those ideas you've had for so long!
